Gateshead

Gateshead - a part of Newcastle or a separate city? Probably best not to get into that debate. Instead let's get straight on with the clocks.

The first is a small clock tower outside of the old town hall on West Street. This is a cast iron tower of 1892 by Gillett and Johnston.

And as clearly evidenced, was restored in 2001.

Round the corner, the neighbouring building has its own more conventional clock tower.

And finally, St Mary's church overlooking the Tyne. In fact, since 2008 the building has been the Gateshead Visitor Centre, as proudly stated on its clock.
