York (Part 5)

Time to pay a visit to the National Railway Museum, one of York's many gems. This is a bit of a cheat as the clocks inside the museum aren't really public ones, but my argument is that most of them were once sited on railway stations so were originally in the public realm.

The railway museum is reached via Leeman Road, so we will have a quick stop at the postal depot on the way.

On to the National Railway Museum itself. The museum has been extended to an adjacent site since I visited it as a child. The entrance is now past the Friends of the NRM office, which (hurrah) has a clock.

The following clocks are ones that can be found dotted around the museum, and on which I have no further information. So I will let the pictures speak for themselves.

And finally, as it is a railway museum, I will sneak in this picture of locomotives. These two A4 Pacifics normally now reside in North America, but have been brought over to the UK for the 75th anniversary of Mallard's speed record for a steam locomotive.
